Freedom first



Once again, as I wrote on April 11, 2016, we, the people have a basis - and a right - to abolish our government. Yes, the whole government.

Directly quoting from the Declaration of Independence, the founding document of the United States of America, on July 4th, 1776:


"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness ..."

The federal government, under both Democrats and Republicans, has shown that it is not capable of changing its ways and, as bound by the U.S. Constitution, to represent we, the people. Our government has shown that it is not even remotely interested in doing so. Like the original American colonies, we are governed today by elite, self-serving politicians and bureaucrats. In modern times, our freedom-robbing rulers are not English but American.

For decades, the U.S. federal government (and many state and local governments) has been constantly and consistently unrepresentative, unresponsive, and unaccountable to the majority of we, the people (i.e. citizens of the United States of America). Yet, our government continues on this path, in the process nearly bankrupting America and robbing its citizens of their God given, and Constitutional, freedoms.

As a result of the last 50 years of consistently bad governing - lying, overspending, wasting taxpayer money, spinning political bullshit, making promises government doesn't keep and has no intention of keeping, doing little or nothing to address and fix the REAL problems of America - and ignoring the will of the people and their Rights thereof - it may be time to abolish the government. And institute a new government. A better government. One that works. For us. A government of the people, by the people and for the people.

Foretold by the early American colonists, the founders of our country, the real enemy is the government and citizens must protect themselves from it, from government overreach and totalitarian control over the lives of citizens. The American colonists had to fight a war to overthrow such a government, the Revolutionary War, in 1776. Two hundred and forty years later, it may be time for the Second American Revolution. Unlike our forefathers, today, we the people need not violently overthrow the government, we can peacefully vote the government (and all politicians) out of office, and institute a new government - a properly responsive and representative government.

We, the people, do not work for our elected and appointed leaders, they work for us. Their job is to represent us, its citizens, and do what is good and necessary for the country and for its citizens, ALL its citizens. And for 50 years we have watched them not doing their job - not making America better but making it worse. We MUST take back our country. From our government. Or we, the people, by doing nothing, can continue to lose our most valuable asset - our freedom.

UPDATE: And on November 8, 2016, by electing a non-politician (Donald Trump) as President, we did just that!
