"The Los Angeles City Council is expected to vote Tuesday on a proposed ban on chewing tobacco use at all organized sports venues in the city, including Dodger Stadium, and at all city parks.
The council’s Health, Mental Health and Education Committee is scheduled to take up the draft ordinance first, and if approved, the City Council is expected to vote on it the same morning.
The ordinance would prohibit the use of smokeless tobacco products, such as chewing tobacco, at stadiums, fields and other venues where organized sports are played, as well as all city parks."
UPDATE: According to the LA Times, the LA City Council approved the ordinance on Tuesday to ban smokeless tobacco from all sports venues in the city. It passed by a unanimous 14-0 vote.
Seriously? Banning chewing tobacco is what the L.A. City Council thinks is a major priority for the millions of area taxpayers and residents? Banning chewing tobacco in L.A. is apparently a bigger priority for the elected City Council than creating jobs, reducing the absolute horrific traffic congestion, reducing local taxes and regulations, and promoting more affordable housing - NONE of which they have done in the past decade. And you wonder why clowns are held in higher esteem than politicians?
